FEMA Corporation Breaks Ground on New Manufacturing Facility in Otsego, MI
FEMA Corporation, with headquarters in Portage, MI is pleased to announce the ground breaking for a new facility located at 555 Washington Street in Otsego, MI. This 15 acre site will accommodate the construction of this 40,000 square foot facility and have potential for a total site plan of 150,000 square feet of manufacturing in the future. After several expansions in Southwest Michigan and maximizing the campus in Portage, the location in Otsego was chosen as a key factor in FEMA’s long term strategy. Our growth in both domestic and international markets has created the need for another campus.
The facility will initially house our precision machining division called FEMA Component Manufacturing. The new building investment will be $3.6 million, with a total investment including equipment of $6.4 million. It is anticipated the plant will run 3 shifts.
FEMA Component Manufacturing (CM) has been in operation since 2009 in Portage and provides complex precision machined parts and assemblies to Original Equipment Manufacturers and Tier I suppliers in markets including Automotive, Agriculture, Stationary Industrial, Off-Highway, Mobile, Military and Construction.
FEMA CM offers turning capabilities on state-of-the-art equipment such as 3 Y-Axis multi-tasking machine centers, milling capacity with CNC vertical machining centers, inventory management, assembly with controlled processes including light assembly of sub-component parts and engineering design services related to precision machined parts.
FEMA Corporation has been in business since 1968 with roots to the aerospace industry. It is an employee owned, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 registered company with approximately 220 employee owners. Primary products include electro-hydraulic and electro-magnetic valves. It custom engineers low frequency valves, high frequency valves, pilot valves, proportional valves, and solenoid lock-out units and complex manifold systems used in variety of applications. We also offer component manufacturing and production services that are performed alongside customer product design processes.
