Purchasing Manager
FEMA Corporation is looking for a full-time Purchasing Manager. Reporting to the Materials Manager, the Purchasing Manager will oversee procurement operations for our mid-sized hydraulics manufacturing company. This role is responsible for developing and implementing purchasing strategies, managing supplier relationships and ensuring the timely acquisition of materials and services to support our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, excellent negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of supply chain management in the hydraulics industry.
Normal work hours will be Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm with flexibility to support all shifts and locations as needed. This position is 100% onsite and will require 30 – 60% domestic and international travel.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery of materials and services
- Manage the procurement process, including issuing purchase orders, negotiating contracts, and maintaining accurate records
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and resolving any issues that arise
- Analyze market trends, forecast demand, and mitigate supply chain risks
- Collaborate with other departments to define inventory requirements and manage stock levels
- Implement and oversee systems for monitoring supplier performance and assessing risk
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies in all purchasing activities
- Lead and develop the purchasing team, assigning tasks and providing guidance as needed. Also expected to drive continuous improvement in our purchasing function
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Supply Chain Management, Engineering (any discipline) or Manufacturing Engineering Technology is required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the hydraulics or related manufacturing industry
- Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, contract negotiation, cost reductions and supplier management
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite
- Effective communication and leadership abilities
- Valid driver’s license required
